Financial Subsidy - UPDATED
Manitoba Council has approved the following subsidies for participants:
$500/patrol participant (girl or Guider), $300 support to Rangers/Trex participants
$200 support to Core Crew participants
Please note: initial payment and registration is responsibility of the participant
We have recently been made aware of a slight glitch in the registration process, please be aware of the following:
If you are going in to register now, the system will prompt you to make the first & second payments before you can make your selections.
2. You have two options:
- you can make both payments and proceed with making your selections. If this option is chosen, please send a quick email to Carla as this will affect how your subsidy is applied. Participants choosing this option, would have part of their subsidy go to cover the final payment of the camp registration and the remainder will be applied to your flight costs.
- Your second option is to make the first payment and then wait until the provincial subsidy is sent in. This is currently being done once a month, so there would be a waiting period until you could make your program selections.
3. The GM website payment on line was only set up to accept payments in 1/3 installments, so if going to make your final payment, for those that have had the $500 subsidy applied, (leaving less than 1/3 payment as the balance), you can either mail in a cheque for the balance owed or if wanting to pay by credit card you need to contact Mark Manalo and he will process it over the phone. Marks contact info: manalom@girlguides.ca phone: 1-416-487-5281 ext: 310
Each participant is responsible to pay the balance owing by March 31, 2010. Patrol participants (Girls and Guiders) and Rangers will also have to pay transportation costs. We will not be booking flights until after the February 28, 2010 registration deadline.
Activity Selections are now open on the website. In order to make your activity selections the first two payments need to be submitted. If you have registered and are having difficulty making your activity selections, please contact Carla or Janet so they can assist you in resolving the issue.
Provincial support will be forwarded the first of each month. The last cheque will be sent to National on March 1, 2010.
Fundraising Opportunities
We have two great fundraising opportunities for those going to GM 2010!
1. Help us create a memorial cookbook going into our Celebration of 100 years of Guiding. This fundraiser will help support the provincial subsidies being given to each of the participants.
2. Sell cookies! All girl participants, including Rangers/Trex, going to GM 2010 will have the opportunity to increase their number of cases of cookies ordered for the fall and spring campaigns for the next guiding year. For anyone selling a combined total of 5 cases or more of cookies you will receive back $5 per case of cookies sold to go towards fundraising for GM2010.(example 3 cases in the fall - mint,3 cases in the spring - sandwich cookies = 6 cases total for the year = $30.00)
Orders need to be made through your unit Guider and entered into the Cookie All-star program. The Provincial office will track the number of cases sold by each participant and funds raised will be put towards offsetting their travel costs to the event.
Flights
National has arranged a deal with West Jet. DO NOT Book your own flight. All flights will be arranged by the provincial office. If you have any special requests, please let us know as soon as possible. We will be traveling together as a province, with Core Crew and Rangers travel dates may very depending on what you have signed up to do at camp.
If you have any questions, please contact Carla or Janet. Details on flights will not be available until registration has closed and we have final numbers of participants
